Monday,
March 24th 2008 was a historic
day in the history of
Irish radio broadcasting, because
at 15:00, RTÉ switched off
the medium wave service for the
final time. The service, which
began 82 years ago in 1929 has
now come to an end.
RTÉ broadcast
a 90 minute programme, appropriately
called "Medium
Wave Goodbye", which was presented
by Brendan Balfe and this was broadcast
on all frequencies. The programme
featured some of the great radio
highlights going back 82 years.
