JUNE 1986: RADIO RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL, TOGHER, COUNTY LOUTH.

Pictured here is Eddie Caffrey (Also Known As 'Headie Eddie'). He's the man who put Radio Rainbow International on the air. It was one of the most exciting radio ventures I have ever been involved in. The powerful transmitter had glass plates which used to 'spark' if the audio exceeded 100 per cent!! The frequency was 4240 KiloHertz, 48 metres, Short Wave.

The audio was put through a good quality amplifier with the base and high end extended. This gave the audio of Radio Rainbow a large 'splash' footprint on the band - way exceeding the limit. But who cares? It was three hours each Sunday morning - this was Free Radio at its best - and we LOVED IT.
