JANUARY 1997: FM 104 DUBLIN

This was the on-air studio. My show ran for 6 hours every day, Monday to Friday from 1.00am to 7.00am. FM104 was not exactly innovative when it came to investing in new technology. It preferred a more cautious approach. While nearly every other radio station in the country was getting ready for digital, FM104 was still using old, outdated cart machines for playing promotions and commercials.

The only really good equipment there was the fantastic Neumann Microphone, which really made the human voice sound good. You can see one in the picture below. It has excellent dynamic sound quality. If you own a radio station, GET one - no matter what the cost!! You might also be interested to know that the audio processing equipment was supplied by Orban Optimod.
