My reports and interviews were later carried on the independent Radio Network Sports news in Britain! One short note, the Irish soccer Team Manager Jack Charlton was largely responsible for getting Ireland through to the 1990 World Cup. My own personal memories of Jack Charlton were of a very grumpy, very unfriendly and very rude person who would do absolutely NOTHING unless he was paid for it. I approached him and asked if he could read a slogan promoting Capital Radio Sport. He flatly refused and his response can not be published here!! When giving a Post-Match press conference, he was selective in who he answered questions from, preferring to talk to the sports reporter from Irish Times. Not a nice man at all.
