JANUARY 1981: RADIO DUBLIN, INCHICORE, DUBLIN

Strange as it may seem, these are the only photographs I have of Radio Dublin. I began my broadcasting career there - by accident - that was in early 1978. I stayed there for a few short months until April that year. Radio Dublin was the longest running pirate radio station in Ireland - perhaps even the world. You can read a history of Radio Dublin here.

In the early 1980's I decided it would be good to have a photographic record of the radio stations that I worked on. So, I headed over to Inchicore, on the west side of Dublin City to visit Radio Dublin. The photograph below was taken in January 1981 and it is the only photo I have of Eamon Cooke. His dog was called 'Tiny'

At that time, Radio Dublin was transmitting on 253m, 240m, 90.2 FM and 6317 KHz (Short Wave).
