SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER 2004: PREMIER FM DUBLIN

Premier FM, Dublin - September to December 2004. These are the 'magic boxes' - in other words, the audio processing equipment that gives a radio station a particular sound. Just in case you're wondering what this is all about, the job of all this equipment is to ensure that the sound level of the radio station remains at the same level.

Take for example, the Queen song 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. If you listen to this on your CD player you will notice that it begins very low in volume and later becomes very loud towards the end. Listen to the same track played through this processing equipment and the song remains at exactly the same level from start to finish. It's called audio processing and that's the reason why you don't have to keep adjusting the sound on your radio to suit every song being played!
